Mark has been playing the alto saxophone since the age
of eleven. He progressed through the ranks of the Doncaster Jazz Association and quickly became a member of the senior group, the Doncaster Youth Jazz Orchestra. Mark has performed with the Orchestra all over the world including France,
Germany, Russia and the United States. He has also performed with the Orchestra at The National Festival of
Music For Youth where they won the outstanding contribution award and as a result performed
at the Royal Albert Hall.
Whilst studying for a BA Honours degree in languages at Newcastle
University, Mark led the Newcastle University Jazz Orchestra as Musical Director which culminated in the group winning the
Northern Universities Big Band Competition.
After completing his degree Mark was offered a scholarship to
study Jazz Performance at the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA where he spent four years studying many
elements of performance and played in several of the college's top ensembles. After attaining a professional diploma with
distinction Mark returned to the UK to pursue his musical career. He has shared the stage with Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)
and Hiromi Uehara and is currently part of popular 80's band Carmel. Based in London, he currently works as a professional
musician and teacher throughout the UK.
